Your proposed development may fit into the category of Complying Development, meaning the building or works you consider undertaking may not be exempt from the process of obtaining Council approval, however the process of obtaining a Development Approval may be avoided.
Complying development criteria
Review the SEPP (State Environment Planning Policy 2008), [Department of Legislation website] for exempt and complying development codes related to your proposed work or project.
